Willem Gerritsen
Multi award-winning filmmaker Willem Gerritsen began directing his first films whilst studying philosophy at the University of Amsterdam. He persevered without any formal training: creating as many music videos, corporate films, and commercials as he could to hone his craft.
Willem’s hard work paid off, as his international career kick-started in 2008 after winning a Young Director Award in Cannes. Willem has since collected multiple awards at the ADC, Epica, D&AD and Eurobest and his work for TomTom and Hi-Tec rewarded him with two bronze Cannes Lions awards. In recent years he expanded his creative horizons to direct well-known Dutch crime series like Penoza and Smeris and create a 13-minute story-based fashion film with Amsterdam-based brand Martan.
From laugh-out-loud funny to picturesque visuals, Willem has the Midas touch. Always up for an adventure, his films draw people into the wonderful world of Willem’s imagination.
